Materialism & Christianity

Materialists are always getting all up in my business telling me to believe in "their way."  These materialists proselytize, and sermonize, and pontificate, and dogmatize, and harangue their commands, and rules, and mandates, and orders, and decrees, and statutes, and stipulations upon me, wearying my mind and soul.  I am fatigued by the materialistic bigotism which assaults and assails me every day.  Why do these materialists force their narrow-minded agenda upon me.  Oh poor me!  Oh poor poor me!!  What a lamentable slough materialism has made of the world.  Are we victims?  Am I a victim?  Can humanity plead innocence?  Certainly I can plead innocence???  At the very least I can!  Because at the very least I know that I never made a volitional decision to be born into this materialistic mire.  And as I have already mentioned, I am the one who is assaulted by all those pesky materialists - pedaling their ephemeral wares on me.  Yes, I am the victim.  I am the one who is entitled to his complaints and grumblings.  Those annoying materialists and their ridiculous condemnations of any/all who do not see the world as they do!  I shall do more than grumble and complain, indeed I shall bring charges against them!  They shall not get away with it, I have grievances to file against them ...them and their condemnation of all who don't adhere to their materialistic absolutism; judging and being so judgmental toward all who refuse to bow the knee to their god - materialism.  Why must they pressure us so?  Why do they insist on converting us to "their way", to their belief???  Why can't they merely live and let live?  Why to they flood the air waves?  Why do they bombard us at every station?  Why do they insist on making us a part of their constituency?  Why do they demand that our faith be placed in their god?  How come they are so radical in their religion of materialism?  They are so mean; flat out bigots.  They are jingoists, sectarians, partisans; they know nothing of what it means to be open-minded!  They don't care about being fair, or just, or nice, or loving, or liberal ...they are narrow-minded, and it seems they will rest at nothing to coerce us to join them; and if we resist, they shall abolish us.  Our options are to join their pride parade - or be exterminated.  Oh poor me!  Poor poor me!!

"The Christian and the Materialist hold different beliefs about the universe.  They can't both be right.  The one who is wrong will act in a way which simply doesn't fit the real universe.  Consequently, with the 'best intentions' in the world, he will be helping his fellow creatures to their destruction."    - C.S. Lewis

*Please note that much of the fulmination above the quote is purposely sarcastic in tone.  There is a sincere amount of honest and coherent thought in the writing above, but only readers willing to sift through sarcasm will gain anything worthwhile from the diatribe.
