Service & Mission Opportunities

Me? Missions? Are you kidding?

Well, actually...no, we're not. There are few other times in your life when getting involved in seeing God's Kingdom spread beyond the borders of this American Sod will be easier for you than when you are in college. Therefore, we have started this page for those of you who are curious to see what God might have in store for those with the willingness to travel away from home and country and see the world through different eyes.

Mercy and Justice: Opportunities to Serve

*PRO-LIFE NEED: There is a wonderful ministry called Truth Mercy & Life that is led by Sheryl Chandler. She regularly goes to the abortion mill to counsel with women who are planning to abort their babies. Often God allows her to reach some & these women decide to continue their pregnancy. They usually give her their names and numbers & she stays in touch with them until their babies are born. When that occurs she presents them with a "baby shower" of clothes, toys & various baby necessities. Her problem now is storage. As she continues to receive many donations, some of which have come from our own Uptown folks, she is finding that her extra space in her garage is not sufficient. We are wondering if there is anyone or anyone that you know of that has some space they are not using & would like to allow her to store these items. She is looking for something that is the size of a single-car garage. If you can help or know someone else who can help please contact Chris Yost at 704-531-2697.

*HELPING NEW MOMS IN NEED: Shower gifts are needed to give to moms who have turned from abortion and chosen life for their babies. Gifts are only needed for children ages 0-2.

Teachers Needed in Thailand

Our dear friends, Nathan and Lisa Ewell, are presently working in Thailand teaching English at a school. The school is a boarding school for primarily Buddhist families. The living situation is comfortable and not primitive. Lisa and Nathan are looking for some folks to come and teach for a year or so at a time. It's a GREAT opportunity to have a great missions experience. Email Nathan for more information: nathanewell@gmail.com.
