Michael Whitham (Campus Minister)

Michael Whitham was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. While in college, Michael was involved with RUF and spent his summers in camp ministry. He met his wife Anna while studying at OU. Michael graduated with his Masters of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC in May 2013. Following graduation Michael took the call to be the Campus Minister at Johnson & Wales University.

Luke Johnson (Volunteer Staff)

Luke is a native of Charlotte (though he can't claim to actually being born here). He went to Myers Park High School and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After teaching high school and working for Wachovia, he felt the Lord leading him into cross-cultural ministry. He currently works for SIM which is a international mission organization. He specifically works in the recruitment department. Luke and Tyler have been friends for several years. In fact, back in 2005, Tyler was the very first person Luke met when he started attending Uptown Church. Luke has since moved to Cross Park Chuch, a church plant of Uptown Church. If Luke could do any one thing in the world, it would probably be to don a backpack and go out in the woods. He also likes playing stringed instruments from Bolivia.

JeDarius Shotwell (Volunteer Staff)

JeDarius Shotwell better known as (“JD”) was born in Memphis - Cordova, TN and is the oldest of 7 brothers and sisters.  He attended Johnson & Wales University main campus in Providence, RI where he was pursuing  a degree in International Business before transferring to the Charlotte Campus in 2010, where he later received his Bachelor of Science in Business Finance.  He quickly became active and invested in RUF@ JWU and the local Church.  After receiving his degree in 2012, JD accepted a Job offer with Bank of America as a Security Intelligence Analyst and is continuing his educational endeavors at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. He enjoys traveling, hiking, meeting with others and hanging out with the RUF Family. He also has a great passion for people, music and Architecture!
